Quebec City overview
Quebec City, as the only walled city in North America, is truly unique, and has been awarded World Heritage Site status by UNESCO in recognition of its well preserved historic architecture. It enjoys a spectacular location towering high above the St. Lawrence River, and a visit to the restored Citadelle gives a good idea of Québec's strategic importance. Québec City today retains a distinctly European feel, best enjoyed with a stroll through the cobbled streets around Place-Royale, the birthplace of French civilisation in North America. The province of Québec also has much to offer, including accessible wilderness scenery, superb whale watching at Tadoussac and an excellent range of summer and winter activities at Mont Tremblant.
