About Gambia
Gambia is one of the smallest countries in Africa, situated on
the unspoilt west coast on approximately the same latitude as
Barbados. Mostly flat, the country is dominated by the majestic
River Gambia from which it takes its name. A sub-tropical climate, fascinating culture, magnificent wide sandy beaches and
some of the friendliest people on earth add up to a great holiday
destination. The Gambia is not for everyone, as the pace of life is
unhurried, but many people get hooked, returning year after year.
The Gambia has unique qualities over many other destinations. It is only six hours away from major European destinations, there is no jet lag, and it is a popular and affordable winter destination attracting tourists in search of sun, sea, sand and cultural experience of which this unique country has plenty.
