Maldives overview
Comprising of more than 1000 tropical islands grouped in atolls, like emerald gem stones in a sea of turquoise, the Maldives is the paradise you’ve always dreamed of. Castaway to a romantic sandy
beach lapped by a warm lagoon and beneath the calm blue waters lies an even more amazing world teeming with colourful fish and spectacular coral reefs.
Cast like gemstones onto an aquamarine sea, each of the Maldivian Islands are circular coral beaches in themselves, so you’ll only be moments from snow-white sands and turquoise seas. Laden with rustling palms and green vegetation, the fine sands of each island glide gently into warm, shallow lagoons whose waters are astonishingly clear.
Sheltering them are encircling coral reefs alive with colourful fish and marine life, making diving and snorkelling an unforgettable experience.
Most resort islands also offer an excellent choice of ocean-going activities like fishing trips, catamaran sailing, windsurfing and water-skiing, as well as scuba diving schools.
Partying isn’t what the Maldives are about. The geography of the islands means all entertainment is staged by the hotels, which host regular shows and theme nights, including karaoke, discos and performances of ‘boduberu’ the fast-drumming national music. If quieter nights are your thing, you’ll have the ultimate setting - watching a luminous tropical sunset whilst you dine or sip cocktails on the sands and gentle waves kiss your toes.
